Vinaya text tells the cause of laying down Parasük (Pali: Pārājika). Parasük literally means ‘defeats’ which is called Kharukabat (Pali,Garukāpatti: heavy punishment). If a monk breaks any one of the rules he is automatically defeated in the holy life and falls from monkhood immediately. He is not allowed to become a monk again in his lifetime. Pārājika consists of four items: 1. Sexual intercourse. 2. Stealing what is not given. 3. Intentionally deprive a human being of life. 4. Without direct knowledge, claim a superior human state. Colophon: Folio 1 on the verso side: Chunlasakkarat hundred 40 (corresponding with CS 1140), a poek set year.
