In a previous life, the Bodhisatta was born as King Sirimatiraja ruling Benares. One day, he asked his elephant keeper that why did the elephant not believe me, even though I used the iron hook chopping at its head until blood came down to its ears and cheeks? The keeper answered that because of sexual desire. The male elephant touched a female elephant’s stool and urine. It had sexual desire and wanted to have sexual intercourse with the female elephant. Therefore, it ran into the forest. Hearing that the king realized that lust is the causes of disasters. The hell creatures are in flame that was because of this lust. This lust is stronger than all kinds of irons and hotter than fire in the world. Colophon: Folio 24 on the recto side: Chunlasangkat 1216, a kap nyi year, the first day of the waxing moon of the fourth lunar month, the sixth day of the week (Friday), and a kap chai day. The writing was accomplished at the time of the thae kai thiang (between 9.00–10.30 o’clock). Chao Sangkharasa (Great abbot) Titsapannya had the religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript entitled Sothanda[ni] 3 tai for the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May my wishes come true. May this be a condition for us to reach Nibbāna.
