The Buddha said to Ananda Thera, “Ananda, any person who has knowledge and virtue can preach the teachings of the Buddha to others. The person also listens to the Dhamma and performs meritorious deeds, observes the five or eight precepts. He will not go to hell, not to be a demon. On the other hand, a person who is greedy, does not do good deeds, and does not observe the precepts and listens to the Dhamma, will go to hell as a demon and suffers. Chao (Princess) In, the mother of Prince Saiyavongsa had the most ardent religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript [entitled] Lam mahavibak luang, to support the Teachings of Gotama Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May I be released from all demerit deeds of my previous lives. May my wishes and desires come true. May I reach the three states of happiness such as worldly happiness, heavenly happiness and the greatest bliss which is Nibbāna.
