On one occasion, while residing at the Puppharam monastery, the Buddha mentioned about Visakha and preached this sermon. Visakha, the daughter of Sumanathevi and Dhananjayasethi of Bhaddiya city, has a grandfather named Mendakasetthi and a grandmother named Chantha Pathummavadi. When Visakha was seven years old, she had a chance to have listened to the Buddha’s preaching. After listening she attained Sotapattiphala (the fruition of stream-entry). Later, Visakha married Punnavatthana. At the wedding ceremony, Dhananjayasetthi her father gave her his teachings and also an expensive piece of ornament called “mahaladapasadana”. Colophon: Folio 29 on the recto side: Buddhist Era 1211 (possibility is CS 1211), a kat hao year, on the ninth day of the waning moon of the first lunar month, the first day of the week (Sunday), a kat pao day, the writing was accomplished at the time of tut tang (between 6.00–7.30 o’clock). Mae Thao and Phò Thao Saensai sponsored the making of these manuscripts including two fascicles of Pitaka thang 3, three fascicles of Visakha and four fascicles of Chunthasukarikasut to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May our wishes and desires come true. Nibbāna paccayo hontu no dhuvaṃ dhuvaṃ (May this be a condition for us to reach Nibbāna, certainly and certainly).
