The Garnev collection, including published songs entitled "Compendium of folklore, science and literature"

The Garnev collection consists of 5 notebooks (415 written pages altogether) with separate titles each; as an archival documental whole, the collection does not have a separate title, although the published songs are entitled "Compendium of folklore, science and literature" (SbNU) issued by the Ministry of Education. It contains 415 handwritten pages with the so-called short folklore forms – folk songs (different genres), proverbs, sayings, riddles, etc., collected by G.M. Garnev.

20 pages are missing; Nonstandard measures: 31,5/15 cm. Registered from 1893 on from different areas - from the villages Libyahovo, Gaytaninovo, Dramsko and Melnichko; written in a dialect which even at that time was constantly disappearing.

All the original materials are owned by the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Studies at the Bulgarian Academy of sciences, which is a successor of the former Ethnographic Institute with Museum at BAS.
