"Collection of photographs at Vat Nong Si Khun Meuang, Luang Prabang, Laos [1940-1990]"

The collection holds mostly photographs of the Theravada Buddhist world of Laos and Luang Prabang, primarily taken and collected from 1940 to the 1990s while the main contributor lived as a Buddhist monk at Vat Nong Sikhounmeuang, Luang Prabang. The subject matter includes images of Buddha statues, Buddhist ceremonies, landscape/architecture, monastery/architecture, travel material, people’s festivals, group portraits of laypeople with and without monks, group and individual portraits of monks, and photographs of Pha Oune Heuan Hasapanyo and Pha Phoumy Phalappato.

71 prints in frames at Vat Nong Si Khun Meuang. This is the second part of the much larger collection. The first 1,113 photographs were identified and digitised in EAP 177.

Original material consists of: silver gelatine DOP prints (some hand-coloured), chromogenic prints, colour halftone prints, original paintings, other/unknown.
