The Egyptian Cinema and Theater Photo Collection consists of 20 albums, 743 black and white photos that include shots of films and plays produced between 1913 and 1960. The collection contains cinema press clippings, 36 cover page gifts from al-Kawakeb Magazine, 20 signatures of prominent Egyptian actors and images from Egyptian films and plays performed during first fifty years of the 20th century. Many famous actors and actresses are featured in these albums such as Youssef Wahbi, Najib Al-Rihani and Ali Al-Kassar in addition to Tahia Carioca, Zuzu Shakib, Faten Hamama and many others mainly in group photos. The collection also includes individual portraits of several figures that were mostly active during what was known as the golden age of the Egyptian cinema, 1940s-1960s. Custodial history: Gift to AUB Libraries from unknown donor in the 1950s before acquiring a library system.
Arrangement: The Collection is arranged as received by album number and the photos are arranged by sequencial order. no chronological order, and the caption of the photos are added in pencil at the verso of some photos.
