The collection of documents Félix Denegri Luna is part of the library of the same name held by the Instituto Riva-Agüero, the center for advanced Peruvian studies at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. It was assembled by the renowned Peruvian lawyer and historian Félix Denegri Luna who, throughout his life, gathered a valuable collection of books and documents related to the history of Peru and its neighboring countries. Acquired by the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú at the beginning of the 21st century, the documentary collection was cataloged by Prof. Ada Arrieta. It has been organized into 139 boxes containing various types of textual, cartographic, and visual documents, mainly related to the Viceroyal and Republican history of Peru. Also, documents from what is now Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, and Spain are also preserved. There are three main historical moments documented in this collection that span much of the 19th century: the war for independence (1821-1824), the early republic (1824-1850), and the War of the Pacific (1879-1884). Textual documents, both handwritten and printed, deal with topics as diverse as political, social, economic, health, naval, and mining. The types of documents included in the collection vary as well, including letters, royal provisions, royal orders and decrees, letter copying books, baptismal and marriage records for slaves, receipts, account books, public deeds, proclamations, official letters, and newspaper clippings collections. In addition, the collection contains an important collection of cartographic and visual elements: maps and plans, postcards and photographs. A few documents in the collection are xerox copies and photographs of historical documents from various national archives, as well as documents dated after the second part of the 20th century. These documents are not included in the digitization process but can be consulted at the Riva-Agüero Historical Archive.
