The personal colelction of AT Yousafali Pandikkad contains original manuscripts and rare books belonging mainly to the category of Islamic sciences, mathematics, lietrature, history and theology. The documents are mainly in four langauages; Arabic, Arabic-Malayalam, English and Persian. A small colletion of Arabic-Tamil documents are also there in the collection. Some of the docuemtns are having transregional importance published from South Asia but widely read in Southeast Asia and the Arab world (eg. Fathul Mui'n). Most of the documents are inherited from ancestors and preserved for centuries. The documnets are not systemtaically catalogued and well-prserved. No dedicated rooms or shelves for keeping docuemnts. Some of the documents are in a very bad shape require urgent care.
Custodial history: Most of the docuemnts are inherited from the family. The family was into trade and some of its members were active in anti-colonial uprisings in the Malabar region. Some of the materials are donated to him by the other families of the locality.
Arrangement: The collection under the ownership of AT Yousafali Pandikkad is not well-preserved. Most of the documents are kept inside bags made of cloth. No measures have been taken to protect them from the attack of insects. Not classified and catalogued properly, just arranged in a nemerical order. Subjectwise classification and cataloguing is required for preservation of the docuemnts.
