Custodial history: The Audit Union of Ukrainian Cooperatives (RSUK) was founded in 1905 under the name of the Regional Audit Union (KSR). The organization’s task was to periodically inspect the activities of all cooperatives in Galicia, conduct audits of credit societies and provide them with credit, develop and maintain statistics on the cooperative movement in accordance with the regulations established by law. The KSR took over from the Regional Credit Union (founded in 1898) the tasks of organizing cooperative unions, developing and establishing new cooperatives, building economic associations, maintaining records, and disseminating cooperative ideas among Ukrainian citizens. In 1907, the KSR was subordinate to 180 credit societies (59,548 members); in 1908, 228 credit societies. In 1914, the KSR united 609 cooperatives; in 1930, 3,146 cooperatives. During the Soviet occupation of Galicia in 1939, the authorities liquidated the Regional Audit Union. During the German occupation (1941-44), the institution was restored, with audit departments in Lublin (director M. Melnychuk) and Krakow (director I. Fostakovskiy) subordinate to it, but its activities were limited. In 1944, there were 4,624 cooperatives. After the end of World War II, the Soviet authorities finally liquidated the society. During its activities, the RSUK was a member of the International Cooperative Union, and its delegates actively participated in international cooperative congresses. The fund's documents were kept in the Lviv Regional Archive, later in the Central State Historical Archive of Ukraine in Lviv (TSDIAL). There is information that in 1954 and 1958 In 1975, the fund was processed at the Central State Historical Archive of Ukraine in Lviv (67 cases were described), and in 1975, the documents were further organized and 64 more cases were described.
