Custodial history: This manuscripts is currently under the custody of Sathasivam Manikappodi, who lives in Puthukudiripu, Batticaloa. This has been preserved from his paternal line. His father, Manikapodiyar, initially lived in Amplanturai, Batticaloa. They have the records which have been preserved in vaults for generations. His father, Manikappodi, was also a relative of Sembappodi, Alagipodi and Kannappodi. He has been a member of the temple management council at his hometown Kannaki Amman temple since the 1980s. His own record has been sung for the Amman temple. Due to a family dispute with Manikapodiyar's brother, many records have changed hands and their whereabouts are unknown today. Only Kovalar kathai is kept safe with Sathasivam. This manuscripts was written during the 18th century. He is seen as having the ability to read the manuscripts.
