Box 10 - Photographs

A map of Uganda, published by the Geographical Section, General Staff (No. 2571), drawn and printed at the War Office, 1911. Names of people that have contributed to and were in charge of the Uganda Topographical Survey in 1909 are Capt. W.C. Macfie, R.E. (West of the Nile) and Lieut. C.E. Fishbourne, R.E. (East of the Nile). Coast line from Admiralty Chart. Handwriting is found all over the map, sometimes just circling certain places or names, sometimes lists of names and places, and calculations of what seems proportions of land. The map is attached to a cloth and together with the cloth mounted into a book Handbook of Africa - Uganda - Zanzibar - 1907. Extent of original material: 1 map of Uganda attached to cloth and mounted into a book. Physical condition of original material: object: 63x96cm, water damage, folds, tears, cloth stuck to it (to hold it together), on the lower left side mounted into a book, eaten by insects, recto (handwritten).
