There are two sluice inscriptions engraved on the pillar of the sluice called Periyamadai.It belongs to the Arasamalai village. This sluice, called Periyamaḍai, is located close to the bank at the centre of the tank. The inscription refers to the sluice. On the palaeographical ground, it is dated to the 11th century CE.
