ທໍາມະບົດ (ຜູກ ໑໐, ມັດ ໑໕)

ເລື່ອງ ພະສັນຕະກາຍະເຖລະ. ໃນສະໄໝໜຶ່ງ, ພະພຸດທະອົງຊົງປະທັບຢູ່ທີ່ວັດເຊຕະວັນ ຊົງປາລົບພະສັນຕະກາຍະເຖລະ ຕັດພະທໍາມະເທສະນານີ້ວ່າ ສັນຕະກາໂຍ ເປັນຕົ້ນ. ພະສັນຕະກາຍະເຖລະ ເຄີຍເກີດເປັນຣາຊະສີໃນອະດິດຕະຊາດ ມີຄວາມສໍາລວມລະວັງກາຍຢູ່ເປັນນິດ ບໍ່ເຄີຍສະແດງອາການຄະນອງມືຄະນອງຕີນ ແມ້ແຕ່ຈະບິດກາຍກໍ່ບໍ່ເຄີຍເຮັດ ລັກສະນະຂອງພະເຖລະອົງນີ້ບໍ່ຕ່າງກັບພຶດຕິກໍາຂອງຣາຊະສີ. ພະພຸດທະອົງໄດ້ຕັດແກ່ພິກຂຸທັງຫຼາຍວ່າ “ທໍາມະດາພິກຂຸ ພຶ່ງເປັນຜູ້ສະຫງົບທາງທະວານທັງຫຼາຍ ມີກາຍະທະວານເປັນຕົ້ນ ເໝືອນກັບສັນຕະກາຍະເຖລະສັນນັ້ນ”. ຈາກນັ້ນ, ຈຶ່ງຕັດພະຄາຖານີ້ວ່າ “ພິກຂຸຜູ້ມີກາຍສະຫງົບ ມີວາຈາສະຫງົບ ມີໃຈສະຫງົບ ເປັນຜູ້ຕັ້ງໝັ້ນດີແລ້ວ ມີອາມິດໃນໂລກອັນຄາຍເສຍແລ້ວ ເຮົາຮຽກວ່າ ຜູ້ສະຫງົບລະງັບ”. ເມື່ອຈົບພະທໍາມະເທສະນາ ພະສັນຕະກາຍະເຖລະ ກໍ່ບັນລຸເປັນພະອໍລະຫັນ. ຄໍາລົງທ້າຍ: ລານທີ່ ໒໕ ໜ້າ ໑: ສັງກາດໄດ້ ພັນຮ້ອຍ ໙໖ (໑໑໙໖) ຕົວປີກາບສະງ້າ ເດືອນ ໓ ຂື້ນ ໓ ຄໍ່າ ວັນ ໗ ຣິດຈະນາແລ້ວຍາມທ່ຽງວັນ ສາທຸ ມະຫາ ພຸດທະວົງສາ ວິຣິຍະປັນຍາ ໂພນໄຊຍະຣາມາທິບໍດີ ມີສັດທາເປັນອັນຍິ່ງຈຶ່ງສ້າງ ທໍາມະບົດ ໄວ້ກັບສາສະໜາ ຂໍໃຫ້ໄດ້ດັ່ງຄໍາປາດຖະໜາຊູ່ປະການ ກໍຂ້າເທີ້ນ ນິບພານະ ປັດຈະໂຍ ໂຫຕຸ.

The Story of Thera Santakaya. While residing at the Jetavana monastery, the Buddha uttered Verse with reference to Thera Santakaya. Thera Santakaya, having been a lion in his last existence, behaved very much like a lion. He moved about very little; his moments were slow and steady; and he was usually calm and composed. Other bhikkhus took his behaviour to be very queer and they reported about him to the Buddha. After hearing the account given by the bhikkhus, the Buddha said to all of them "Bhikkhus! A bhikkhu should be calm and composed; he should behave like Santakaya." Then the Buddha spoke in verse as follow, “The bhikkhu who is calm in body, calm in speech, and calm in mind, who is well-composed and has given up (lit., vomited) worldly pleasures, is called a Tranquil One". At the end of the discourse Thera Santakaya attained arahatship. Colophon: Folio 25 on the recto side: Sangkat thousand hundred 96 (corresponding with CS 1196), a kap sanga year, the third day of the waxing moon of the third lunar month, the seventh day of the week (Saturday), the writing was accomplished at the time of thiang vang (between 10.30-12.00 o’clock). Sathu Maha Phutthavongsa Viriyapannya from Vat Phonsaiyaramathipadi had the ardent religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript [entitled] Thammabot, to support the Teachings of the Buddha. May my wishes come true. May this be a condition to reach Nibbāna.
