A handwritten unbound Tibetan text (pecha) on handmade paper. Handwritten in "headless" Tibetan dbu med (Ume) script. An additional commentary on the illuminated text from the same household collection (EAP1221_HNS_TTL_TXT-2),which itself is a commentary on the third medical tantra, the oral tradition tantra. An almost identical text to (EAP1221_HNS_TTL_TXT-9 A short Tibetan title was suggested by the Amchi owner. (Tib. ལྷན་ཐབས་འཁྲུལ་གྱི་ལྡེ་མིག་བཞུགས་སོ། Wylie. lhan thabs 'khrul gyi lde mig bzhugs so) Original author’s name is Nawang Sangye Palzang ༼ ངག་དབང་སངས་རྒྱས་དཔལ་བཟང་། ༽.
Extent: One unbound book consisting of 35 folios, folded and stitched together.
Size and dimensions of original material: Each folio is 68 cm x 11.5 cm, folding to 34 x 10.5 cm.
Condition of original material: Two volumes stitched together. The final page is attached to the white rear cover.
Custodial history: All the material was passed to the current owner by his father Labu Chherring, who inherited the bulk of the material from his father, Tsering Tashi Labu's grandfather. All three men trained to become amchi, doctors in the Tibetan tradition. Father and grandfather were, in addition, singers (nyahon) and speechmakers (molawa).
Arrangement: All the material was kept in the prayer room of Tsering Tashi Labu's house (unseen). The precise country of origin is unknown. However it is almost certain that the original text was created in Tibet, though the specific material in question may have been copied locally in Spiti (India) at a later date.
