The Arabic manuscript is a copy of a poem dealing with the life of Prophet Muḥammad and Sufism. It includes extensive glosses in Arabic and Soninke Ajami. It is a copy of an Arabic poem by the 17th-century Moroccan Sufi poet, Abū Alī al-Ḥasan ibn Mas‘ūd al-Yūsī (1631-1691).
Custodial history: The owner inherited it from his father, Al-hadji Lamine Cisse. His father was born in Missira-Niombato in the region of Kaolack, Senegal.
Extent and format of original material: 96 pages.
Physical characteristics: Unbound manuscript. Due to the poor conservation condition and ink stains, some words may be hard to read. There are signs of water damage.
