"Letter from King NJOYA to Nji MAMA and NJOYA Ibrahimu from Simeyong (in Yaoundé, where the King was in exile) [20 Apr 1934]"

Leaves: 1; Pages: 2; Measurements: 21.5cm x 13.7cm; Dates 20 April 1934 (this date is incorrect; see note below); Script: Akauku Mfemfe; Condition: Good; Comments: Letter includes the faded stamp of King NJOYA and his signature. This letter is very clearly dated 20 April 1934, which is an impossible date for the letter as King NJOYA died in 1933. At first we thought perhaps the King had made a mistake on the date, but after reading a number of other letters exchanged with NJI MAMA we find instead that dates have been deliberately scrambled, according to a code (and only with the code can the dates be understood). This is not strange, given the inventiveness of the king along with NJI MAMA. We estimate that this letter was sent sometime in 1932, just prior to the death of King NJOYA.
