On one occasion, the Buddha was residing at the Jetavana monastery. One day, the people of Savatthi went to the Jetavana monastery in order to listen to the Dhamma preaching from the Buddha. On the day, the sky was suddenly dark. There was a young wise man thought that, it is not good that many people are listening to the Budhhas preaching in the darkness. He then went to his home and brought a lamp to light among the people. After the sermon, the people appreciated and praised on the young man that he has generosity for the public. The Buddha said, this young man will gain much merit from this. Colophon: Folio 11 on the verso side: Buddhist Era (BE) 1286 (possibly is CS 1286), a kap san year, the fifth day of the waxing moon of the second lunar month, the third day of the week (Tuesday), the writing was accomplished at the time of kòng laeng (between 13.30-15.00 o’clock). Sathu Nyai (Prince) Vongkot and all his children jointly sponsored the making of this manuscript entitled Sòng pathip to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May we all reach the three states of happiness with Nibbāna as the ultimate goal. May our wishes and desires not be ignored. Nibbāna is the greatest bliss.
