Phanya Nungphan, the older brother of Phaya Phimmasan left the throne for an ascetic. He travelled to the Himalayas accompanied with Prince Parot. When they arrived the forest, they met a hermit named Narathara who had attained Lokiyajhana (worldly absorption) and Abhinna (superknowledge). They became the hermit’s disciples and learnt the refuge and meditation from him. When they finished, they left the hermit and continued their journey. On the way, they met a pavilion with the eight requisites. These were prepared by Indra. Phanya Nungphan then was ordained as an ascetic. Prince Parot met three angels and married them as his wives. They all took care of the ascetic.
