The love story between Khun Thong and Nang Ua is hopeless because Ua’s mother did not want her daughter to marry Khun Thong who was poor. When love had a wall against her, she decided to hang herself under a tree. Before hanging herself, she prayed to meet her lover in heaven. Colophon: Folio 12 on the recto side: The writing was accomplished at the time of kòng laeng (between 13.30–15.00 o’clock). Chao Mòm (monk) Kam had the religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript [entitled] Samat Khunthong Uakhiam, to support the Teachings of Gotama Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May this be a condition to attain arahantaship and reach Nibbāna in the future certainly. Nibbāna is the greatest bliss.
