Once upon a time, the Bodhisatta was born as Suttasoma Kumara, the son of King Phommathat (Brahmadatta) of Suthatsana (Sudassana) kingdom. The Bodhisatta had his younger brother named Somadatta Kumara. When Suttasoma Kumara grew up, his father appointed him as the new king to rule the kingdom. But Suttasoma Kumara bored the household life and thought of becoming ascetic. When he informed his father and mother, they did not allow him to become an ascetic. He wanted God to protect his family's wealth. But the Somadatta still confirmed that he would become ascetic. In the end, Somadatta fled to become an ascetic in the Himavanta forest. When Suttasoma knew, he followed him to become an ascetic as well.
