The story of Sri Mahamaya, Gotama Buddha’s mother. Queen Siri Mahamaya was the daughter of King Anchanaof Goliya and Queen Yasothara of Sakka. She had two brothers, namely Suppabuddha and Tandapani, and a younger sister, Mahapajapati Gotami, who later became the queen of King Suddhodana and was the stepmother of Prince Siddhartha. When she was 16 years old, she married King Suddhodana. On the full moon day of the 6th month before the Buddhist Era 80 years, she gave birth to a son named Siddhartha which means the one who fulfills his needs. Seven days after giving birth to her son, Queen Siri Mahamaya passed away and was born as a Devaputta in Dusita heaven. In the seventh years after his enlightenment, the Buddha ascended to preach the seven scriptures of Abhidhamma to his former mother, Siri Mahamaya in return in Tāvatiṃsa heaven. Colophon: Folio 26 on the recto side: Chunlasangkat (CS) 1220, a kat hao year, on the fifth day of the waxing moon of the sixth lunar month, the fourth day of the week (Wednesday), the writing was accomplished at the time of kòng ngai (between 7.30–9.00 o’clcok). The initiator, Chao Mòm (Monk) Phan had the religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript [entitled] Simahamaya to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years.
