Sòng Haothian means the merit gained by making a candlestick and donated it to the monastery. On one occasion, the Buddha was dwelling in the Jetavana monastery of Savatthi. At the time, Venerable Maha Moggallana travelled to Tavatimsa heaven. The Venerable saw a devaputta who had beautiful skin living in a bright castle and enjoyed the heavenly properties. When returned the world, the Venerable went to the presence of the Buddha and reported him what he found in the heaven and asked the Buddha about the results of the good deed that devaputta had conducted. The Buddha related the story of the devaputta. In the time of Kassapa Buddha, the devaputta offered a candlestick in order to worship a pagoda. Due to the results of the merit, after death, he was reborn as the devaputta.
