Customary law. There were three thieves, the leader wanted to get the treasure of the ship merchant. So, he planned for the two subordinates to steal the treasure in the ship. The two thieves tried to steal many times but failed. One day they found the merchant's mistress sleeping, while the merchant was not there. So, they forced and threatened her to bring the treasure and ran away. When the merchant returned, he accused his mistress of stealing his treasure, but she denied and told the whole truth. The merchant went to inform the Khun (the local authority). The khun ordered his subordinates to arrest the three thieves and punish them by returning all the property and fine five times. The leader of the thieves was punished severely, the two subordinates were punished lightly, and the wife of the merchant was not punished.
