Once upon a time, King Brahmadatta ruled the kingdom of Varanasi. The Bodhisattva was born in a poor family, as Somphurat Taengkhiao. Once, he travelled with merchants in a ship and went to farm on an island. One day, there were seven women called Kinnali who were half women and half birds came to play in the water on the island. One of them is called Manora, the daughter of King Uthumphon of Mount Kailat. When they destroyed the fruit trees in the garden, Somphurat Taengkhiao took Manora as a hostage. King Uthumphon brought gold to redeem his daughter. After that, Somphurat Taengkhiao and all the merchants went back to Varanasi. Somphurat Taengkhiao asked his mother to ask for the marriage with King Brahmadatta’s daughter. At the time, King Brahmadatta told Somphurat Taengkhiao to build a golden bridge from the ship port to his palace in the completion within seven days. So Somphurat Taengkhiao asked for the help of the merchant to bring the gold to build the bridge until it was completed and he was blessed to marry the king’s daughter called Princess Nanthira. Later, Somphurat Taengkhiao was a successor to the king and became the ruler of Varanasi.
