ນິຍາຍຣັດສີສິງ

On one occasion, while dwelling at the Jetavana Monastery in Savatthi, the Buddha spoke about a monk who still had a connection with his former wife. The Buddha questioned the monk, “Are you happy with my Teachings? The monk answered that I am not happy with anything of your teachings. Then the Buddha questioned “why you are a monk and who let you become a monk with sexual desire? Thereafter the Buddha told the story of a hermit named Sing (Lion) who was faithful in the Buddha’s teachings. The hermit entered Himmavanta forest with intention in practicing the Dhamma. One day, his old wife named Arammaphusa came to visit him in the forest. She was playing female manners to the hermit. Finally, the hermit was unrestrained and distracted. He lost concentration and stopped practice and made love with her at his hut. Colophon: Folio 14 on the recto side: Buddhist Era (BE) 2505, a tao nyi year, on the ninth day of the waning moon of the fourth lunar month, the third day of the week (Tuesday), the writing was accomplished at time of kòng ngai (between 7.30–9.00 o’clock). Thit Chanpheng and Sao On from the village of Pakham together with all their sons and daughters sponsored the making of this manuscript entitled Niyai Ratsising to support the Teachings of the Buddha. May we all reach the three states of happiness with Nirvana as the ultimate goal. May our wishes and desires not be ignored.
