Unhatsavisai or Unhassavijaya is a sacred text causing longevity, read as a sermon by monks in the auspicious ceremonies. On one occasion, the Buddha was staying in Tāvatiṃsa Heaven. At the time, Supatithita Devaputta was about to die within seven days, after which he was to be reborn as a hell-being for one hundred thousand years, thereafter, various species of animals and the disabled for thousands of lives because of his bad deeds in the former lives. He was very upset by this, so he went to ask for help from Indra who then led him to the Buddha. The Buddha then preached a sermon of the Unhassavijaya Khatha. At the end of the sermon, all the deities, headed by Indra, attained the special Dhamma, namely the path and fruition. As for Supatitthita, he had a mind of respect for the Buddha and his teachings. Moreover, with the virtue of listening to this Unhassavijaya Katha causing Supatitthita to have longevity until the time of Sri Ariyametteyya Buddha, and he thus will be reborn in the human world and become an Arahant.
