Notarial archives of the villa of Medellín made in the year 1697. This volume contains general powers of attorney, wills, dowry deeds, deeds related to gifts, transfer and sale and purchase of lands, pledge for guardianship, pledge for office, deeds of sale and purchase of enslaved individuals, acknowledgement and establishment of chaplaincies, among others. It is worth highlighting the notary's note of protest against the transfer of a case against a mulatto.
Protocolos notariales de la villa de Medellín efectuados en el año 1697. Este tomo contiene poderes generales, testamentos, cartas de dote, escrituras relacionadas con donación, cesión y compraventa de tierras, aseguro de tutela, aseguro de oficio, escrituras de compraventa de personas esclavizadas, reconocimiento y establecimiento de capellanías, entre otros. Cabe destacar la nota de protesta del escribano por el traslado de una causa en contra de un mulato.
Extent: 51 paper folios.
Condition of original material: In regular condition. The spine is degraded and detached, with paper reinforcement on the inside front and back covers. Some pages are torn and stained. The book has also been attacked by insects.
