གསུང་རྟེན་ཐོར་བུ་

This series features a rich and varied collection of texts, including literary works, liturgical manuals, philosophical treatises, and personal notes. Organized into multiple volumes, these writings are typically presented in the flexible poti format, with variations in size and layout that highlight the unique character of each text. Every manuscript in the collection is handwritten in uchen and umey scripts, carefully transcribed in black ink on cream-colored handmade Bhutanese paper. Preserved as sacred relics, these manuscripts are meticulously stored on traditional bookshelves. Each volume is wrapped in layers of cloth and secured between two wooden boards fastened with string, underscoring the profound reverence and careful attention given to their preservation. However, much of this invaluable collection has sustained damage over time, posing significant challenges for its ongoing conservation.

Extent: 26 volumes of manuscripts.

Condition of original material: All the volumes have endured considerable damage from worms, and the majority of the top and bottom pages torn.
