The Shes rab khri pa, or the Perfection of Wisdom in Ten Thousand Lines, is one of the notable versions of the Perfection of Wisdom sutras, widely revered across the Himalayan world. These sutras, also known as the Prajnaparamita Sutras, are some of the most important Mahayana scriptures, focusing on the concept of emptiness and the nature of all phenomena. Mahayana followers regard them as the words of the Buddha, with modern historians dating their composition between the first century BCE and the second century CE. These teachings form the foundation of the Middle Way, which gained widespread influence in the Tibetan and Himalayan regions. Presented in two volumes in the traditional loose poti format, this collection is inscribed in uchen script with black ink on cream-colored Bhutanese handmade paper. The first page of each volume is adorned with gold ink on dark blue paper. As a sacred relic, the collection is carefully preserved on newly constructed bookshelves within the Dzong fortress. Each volume is wrapped in multiple layers of cloth, shielded by two wooden boards, and securely fastened with a string, ensuring its continued preservation and reverence for future generations.
Extent: 2 volumes of manuscripts.
Original institution reference: Sher khri.
