ཤེས་རབ་ཀྱི་ཕ་རོལ་ཏུ་ཕྱིན་པ་སྟོང་ཕྲག་བརྒྱད་པ་

The brGyad stong pa, or the Perfection of Wisdom in Eight Thousand Lines, is the most popular version of the Perfection of Wisdom sutras. As a condensed version, it is an integral part of the Kanjur but is often published independently in ornate and illuminated manuscripts. The Perfection of Wisdom Sutras or the Prajnaparamita Sutras are among the most important Mahayana scriptures, addressing the concept of emptiness and the nature of all phenomena. Revered by Mahayana followers as the words of the Buddha and dated by modern historians to have been composed between the first century BCE and the second century CE, they serve as the foundational teachings of the Middle Way, which gained widespread influence in the Tibetan and Himalayan regions. Presented in one volume in the traditional loose poti format, this collection is inscribed in uchen script with black ink on cream-colored Bhutanese handmade paper. The first page of the volume is adorned with gold ink on dark blue paper. As a sacred relic, the collection is carefully preserved on newly constructed bookshelves within the Dzong fortress. Each volume is wrapped in multiple layers of cloth, shielded by two wooden boards, and securely fastened with a string, ensuring its continued preservation and reverence for future generations.

Extent: 1 volume of manuscript.
