This series represents the miscellaneous section of the Talangkha collection, featuring various sutras and incantations, with the majority being the Five Classes of Great Dharanis. These dharanis, or incantations, are concise sūtra or tantra texts primarily used for ritual purposes. They are centered around a dhāraṇī formula in Sanskrit and are often accompanied by explanations of their applications and origin stories. The Five Classes of Great Dharanis are traditionally grouped by Tibetan scholars and are regarded as dharmakaya relics—sacred items that, according to Buddhist tradition, must be enshrined within every stupa to sanctify it. In this collection, the dharanis are written in a loose poti format, meticulously inscribed in uchen script using black ink on cream-colored Bhutanese handmade paper. However, a substantial portion of the manuscripts has suffered damage or is missing numerous folios. Despite these challenges, the collection is carefully preserved on traditional bookshelves within the temple. Each manuscript is wrapped in multiple layers of cloth, secured between two wooden boards, and fastened with a belt, ensuring its protection and continued reverence for future generations.
Extent: 17 volumes of manuscripts.
