This chronicle appears to be quite popular in Yogyakarta, especially in manuscripts collected by the community. The Babad Demak tells the story of one of the oldest Islamic kingdoms on the island of Java, the Kingdom of Demak. The text in this chronicle begins with the story of Syekh Siti Jenar being tried at the Demak Palace, and ends with the war between the Pajang Palace and Mataram.
