The Lao traditional proverbs which are the root adopted from the Buddhist teachings concerning to actions in proper ways. They are short phrases with meaningful, rhymed, impressive and deep. For examples, “Vaipak siasin vaitin tok tonmai” (Better the foot slip than tongue), mean saying or doing something carelessly will cause damage. Colophon: Folio 12 on the recto side: Chunlasangkat 2 thousand 7 hundred (corresponding with CS 1207), a hap sai year, the third day of the waning moon of the third lunar month, a kot san day, Sunday, the writing was accomplished at the time of kòng laeng (between 13.30–15.00 o;clock). The initiator, Sao Khamduang sponsored the making of this manuscript entitled Nyòtkhamsòn (peak of the teachings) to dedicate to the dead namely Grandfather Sao. [Even if he] has been stuck in a misery place, may he be moved to a good place. If he is already in a good place, may he be better than ever one hundred and one thousand times. May this be a condition for us to reach Nirvana.
