Sonanda Jataka tells about the story of a previous life of the Buddha when the Bodhisatta was born as Sonanda Kumara. On one occasion, the Buddha was present in Nigrodharam. Many bhikkhus discussed the matter of Cinca Manavika who falsely accused the Buddha that she got pregnant with him. The Buddha then brought the story of Sonanda Kumara to preach. Once upon a time, the Bodhisatta was born as Sonanda Kumara, the son of King Dhammadhura of Varanasi. Sonanda was falsely accused by Kalakanni who was sister-in-law. In this life, Kalakanni was born as Cinca Manavika still falsely accussed the Buddha. Colophons: Folios 24 and 25 on the recto sides with the same text: Sangkat 140 (corresponding with CS 1140), a poek set year, on theeighth day of the waning moon of the second lunar month, Sunday, the writing was accomplished at the time of kòng ngai (between 7.30–9.00 o’clock). The king’s younger brother sponsored the making of this manuscript entitled 50 Sadok (Fifty jakatas) to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May this be a condition to reach Nirvana, certainly.
