In the city of Varanasi, there was a rich man named Chiparivara who was committed to charity and observing the eight precepts regularly. All the servants in the rich man's house followed their boss that was to observe the Uposatha precepts on every Buddhist day. One day, there was a poor man came to ask for a job to earn a living in the rich man's house, and the rich man accepted him. Later, the man had a stomach ache on the day of observing the Uposatha precepts because he did not have dinner. When the rich man found out, he gave the man medicine, but the man refused to take it because he was afraid of violating the precept. In the end, the man died. Due to the results of observing the Uposatha precepts, the man was born in heaven.
