The Dhammapada story of Mallika. Mallika was the wife of Bandula, the minister of Kusinara. As she bore no children, Bandula wished to send her back to her parent. However, when she went to bid farewell to the Buddha before her departure, the Buddha asked her to return to her husband. Bandula accepted her, thereby showing his faith to the Buddha. Later, Mallika was pregnant and bore twin sons sixteen times in a total of 32 sons. Each of them became perfect. Colophon: Folio 26 on the recto side: Sangkat (CS) 1244, a tao sanga year, on the seventh day of the waxing moon of the third lunar month, a kap set day, the third day of the week (Tuesday), the writing was accomplished at the time of tut sai (between 12.00–13.30 o’clock). Phò Khamphui and his wife [from the village of] Thakhok had the ardent religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript [entitled] Phatainya lokkanisai katha to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years.
