The text tells on one occasion while the Buddha was dwelling at the Kutakham Sala, Mahavan forest in Vesali. The Buddha gave a sermon to monk on the Bodhipakkhiya-dhamma. The Bodhipakkhiya-dhamma is the virtues partaking of enlightenment consists of 37 items including: 1. Satipaṭṭhāna (foundations of mindfulness) 4, 2. Sammappadhāna (great efforts) 4, 3. Iddhipāda (part of accomplishment) 4, 4. Indriya (controlling faculty) 5, 5. Bala (power) 5, 6. Bojjhaṅga (enlightenment factors) 7, and 7. Aṭṭhaṅgika-magga (the noble eightfold path) 8. Colophon: Folio 27 on the recto side: Sangkat (CS) 1256, a kap sanga year, on the fifth day of the waxing moon of the first lunar month, the second day of the week (Monday), kat hao day, the writing was accomplished at the time of kòng ngai (between 7.30–9.00 o’clock). Nang Phia Müang Kang from Huaphon village sponsored the making of this manuscript [entitled] Bodhipakkhiya-dhamma to support the Teachings of the Buddha. May our wishes and desires come true.
