The content tells about Aṅgulimāla, who was an important person in the early days of Buddhism. Originally, Aṅgulimāla was a bandit who killed people, but later he had faith in Buddhism, became a monk and attained arahantship, claiming to be a repentant thief. The word "Aṅgulimāla" means the one who has fingers as a garland or finger necklace. The Buddha could help and bring Aṅgulimāla to the right path and become his follower as a bhikkhu under his guidance. When the people of Savatthi saw Monk Aṅgulimāla walking for begging food, some were frightened and some were angry with him. Some scolded at him and harmed him with pieces of stones until he had his head break, and the blood covered his body. The Buddha encouraged him to be patient if he wishes to attain enlightenment.
