A green, red and yellow hat [Mid 20th century]

A green, red and yellow hat approximately 26 x 21 cm on which is pinned a small badge with portrait of Urgyen Trinley Dorje, the 17th Karmapa as a child. (Urgyen Trinley Dorje is one of two individuals recognised as the 17th Karmapa).. Creation dates: Mid 20th centruy. Custodial history: An object donated to Dolma Ling nunnery by Buchen Gyurme. It probably belonged to one of three Lama Manipa who had fled from Tibet and who continued to perform within the exile Tibetan communities in India and Nepal. These manipa were Buchen Gyurme (Wylie ’Gyur med), Buchen Norgye (Wylie Nor rgyas), and Buchen Passang (Wylie Pa sangs) Specifics of the actual previous ownership unknown.
