The series is composed of royal letters (cartas régias) and provisions by the Prince Regent and by Dom Rodrigo de Souza Coutinho, relating to administrative matters of the Paraíba Captaincy, dating from 1707 to 1805; orders issued by the State Secretary for Imperial Affairs (Secretaria de Estado de Negócios do Império) and by Rio de Janeiro's court to the Provincial government, from 1826 to 1856, addressing matters of the Provincial Treasury; and registers of notes sent by the State Secretary of War Affairs (Secretaria de Estado dos Negócios da Guerra), between 1842 and 1848, regarding military posts for the defense of the Province and the Empire.
