The structural history of the Aqsa Mosque : a record of archaeological gleanings from the repairs of 1938-1942

At the invitation of the Supreme Moslem Council, the authority responsible for the management of Moslem Holy Places, a report on the structural condition of the Aqsa, with a scheme for its repair, was prepared and presented in May 1938 by the late Mah-mud Ahmad Pasha, Director of the Department for the Preservation of Arab Monuments in the Egyptian Government. Its purpose is to bring together, and put on record, notes on the structure and archaeology of the mosque gathered by different members of the Department of Antiquities' who were able to watch the work as it proceeded intermittently between the years 1938 and 1942.
