Native Affairs Letter Book 2nd February 1893-22 February 1894

This volume contains letters written by J. C. E. Parkes, the Superintendent of the Department of Native Affairs, to local rulers in Benkia, Kambia, and Rokelle among other areas. The volume contains an index of letters with the names of the recipients, a brief subject, and page number in the volume. The letters concern the relationships between British officials and local rulers, some of them Muslim. Letters are also addressed to colonial officials in Sierra Leone including the Principal of the CMS Grammar School, the Colonial Secretary, and the District Commissioner in Sherbro. The letters refer to payment of stipends, slavery, and state of affairs.
