This material is a Tamil palm-leaf manuscript titled ‘Carppa cāstiram’ from Eastern Province, Sri Lanka. This manuscript is partially damaged and deteriorated, rendering the text illegible, thus it is difficult to determine the author, exact age of the manuscript. However it is estimated to be from 1801-1899. This manuscript is related to medicine. It contains the detailed descriptions regarding the types of poisonous snakes and the medicines to cure from its bites. It contains the details about the colour of snakes, colour of the poison and the teeth of the snake. It includes the subtiles such as, keḻuttuleṭcaṇa (kaḻuttu laṭcaṇam), Vēka leṭcaṉam (laṭcaṇam), aṭakkameḻuppa ( means awakening the person who is poisoned). It also mentions about the birth details of snake, names of its teeth etc. The manuscript contains 28 pages.
