A comprehensive inventory of archives and manuscripts in Jimma, Southwest Ethiopia (EAP1644)

Aims and objectives

EAP1644 aims to preserve and document endangered pre-mid-twentieth century manuscripts written in Ge’ez, Arabic and ‘Ajami. These manuscripts, varying in physical format and age, are written on parchment and paper, ranging from small scrolls to larger bound volumes, some dating back several centuries. The project's goal is to conduct a comprehensive inventory and digitise approximately 320-350 manuscripts.
