Digitising and First Aid to Documentary Heritage of “Manuscripts Collection of the Great Omari Mosque Library” - Phase II (EAP1285)

Aims and objectives

The library of the Great Omari Mosque is one of the most important and oldest national library and archives centres in Palestine. However, it is very vulnerable and at risk due to the lack of proper treatment and preservation in addition to the impact of conflicts and air strikes.

The project will help in protecting manuscripts through digitising them and providing suitable storage conditions. Local staff will be trained by Hill Museum and Manuscript Library’s specialists to digitise and handle the manuscripts.


 211 manuscripts from the Great Omari Mosque collection have been digitised.
