M. Suaka and Family [1907]

The photograph shows the extended family members of M. Suaka, was one of the most important early chiefs and early converts to Christianity in Aijal. He ruled in Durtlang. It should be noted that M. Suaka was not a chief in the traditional, hereditary sense; to the contrary, he was appointed and raised to chieftainship by the colonial state. M. Suaka also served the colonial government as a police official.
