Various sports were introduced during the British rule, including the tug of war. Here, Pu Suaka, chief of Durtlang, poses with the winning team in 1936. One can recognize Pu Suaka's colonial style bungalow in the background; he has had written in chalk the words “WINNERS OF THE TUG OF WAR, NORTH LUSHAI HILLS” on the moulding. Although unable to find further information on the participants, the names of those pictured were ascertained: (Standing: Lalchungnunga, Taipuia, Tluanga, Chawnghingthanga, CH Ngura; Sitting: Buala, Saia, M. Suaka, Ralnela, Aihnuna).
