"Mr. and Mrs. M. Suaka, posing with Durtlang football team [1950]"

The photograph features M. Suaka, was one of the most important early chiefs and early converts to Christianity in Aijal. He ruled in Durtlang. He poses with a winning football team. Both football and grass hockey, introduced during British rule, were incredibly popular even post-independence. Football continues to be the most popular sport in modern Mizoram. In addition, a sheep makes an appearance in this photograph—another British import, but rare in historical and modern Mizoram.
