Painting of the Vessantara-Jataka (the story of Prince Vessandone). The Vessantara-Jataka is the masterpiece of Lao literature authored for many years by Lao authors and it is continually given and listened since the past from the north to the south of Laos in Bun Mahaxat (the festival of Prince Vessantara, recitation of the Vessantara-Jataka). Pha Khamchan Virachitta Maha Thela, Abbot of Vat Saen Sukharam had seen an importance of this Lao literature, he had tried to edited and published this literature for many times for distributing on the Buddhist ceremonies, especially on his birthday celebration every year. This painting represents the 1st chapter Dhassaphone (the ten blessings) which has 19 magic formulas, the Indra gave the ten blessings to Queen Phutsadi (the mother of Prince Vessandone). This painting is painted on the wall of the Sim (the main hall of a monastery). Painted in the 1990s. Chromogenic print.
